Santhigiri Vidyabhavan was founded in 1978 with the grace of NAVAJYOTHISREE KARUNAKARA GURU, the founder Guru of Santhigiri Ashram. It was an ambition of Santhigiri Ashram to start a superior educational institution, a public school, at Pothencode named SANTHIGIRI VIDYABHAVAN. It is an English medium co-educational residential cum day school following the CBSE curriculum.

The Vidyabhavan is located 12 km east of Murukkumpuzha Railway Station and 21 km west of Thiruvananthapuram Central. The site is connected with the Thiruvananthapuram-Kollam NH 47 by Mangalapuram and Sreekariyam junction, by the side of Kazhakuttam-Venjaramoodu bypass. The road distance between the school and the two junctions is nearly 11 km. The site is hallowed by the presence of Guru and is ideal for an educational institution. The School Management extends hostel facilities for boys and girls with a view to impart quality education within a framework of holistic personality development.
