Vimalagiri Public School had its humble beginning as a Nursery School in 1981, in the premises of St.Mary?s Church, Kothamangalam founded by Rev. Fr. Peter Ramanatt. The foundation for the junior School was laid by the late Most. Rev. Issac Mar Youhanon, Bishop of Tiruvalla, in 1984.
It was upgraded as U.P School in 1986. The founder Manager of Vimalagiri School is Rev. Fr. John Varghese Easwarankudiyil(1981-88).On his appointment as the Vicar General of the Diocese of Thiruvalla in 1988,Rev. Fr. Varghese Manalel held the office for three years and after his successful term, Rev. Fr. Joachim Nagancheril was in charge for a year. In 1993 Rev. Dr. C. A. Abraham was appointed Rector and Manager. Under his stewardship the school rose steadily to the Secondary and Senior Secondary stages having been affiliated to CBSE, New Delhi.

SPORTS AND GAMES
Inorder to discover and nurture the physical and mental caliber of our students, Vimalagiri Public School provides umpteen opportunities to train our students in sports and games. To develop a healthy sportsman spirit and encourage the value of physical exercises and games, we host an all-Kerala interschool football tournament and athletic Championships. Students also play cricket, football and indoor games like chess, carom etc.
