The district of Koppal in Karnataka state gets its First Kendriya Vidyalaya which started functioning from August 2010 with one section, sanctioned by KVS in July 2010. The admission process was completed by 31st August 2010, initially started with classes I to V and the enrollment has been optimum in all classes, with the strength of students being 198.

The Vidyalaya at present is temporarily situated in the campus of the Govt. Model Higher Primary School, opposite to Koppal City Municipal Corporation which is at a distance of about 200 m from Koppal Central Bus Stand. The school building was inaugurated by Hon?ble MP Shri Shivaramagouda on 23rd August 2010.
