Kendriya Vidyalaya is a system of central government schools under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. The system came into being in 1962 under the name Central Schools and has been affiliated with CBSE since then. Later, the name was changed to Kendriya Vidyalaya.

Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 2 Dhanbad started on 5.5.2003 to cater to the educational requirement of transferable Central Govt. Employees children. Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 02 Dhanbad is situated in Saraidhela behind police station Jagjiwan Nagar. It is a co-educational institution. It has I to V Classes in 2 sections each and VI to IX Classes in 1 section.
