Under the aegis of the Apostolic Carmel Education society way back in 1944 Carmel High School, Patna was established. The school will forever remain indebted to the pioneering efforts of Mother Theodosia and Mother Josephine. Carmel Patna is proud to have produced all through these years women of substances who can face the challenges of life with unflinching faith in their values. 2nd October, 1948 was the red letter day when this school came into a proper building. Carmel, Patna is situated on the impressive Bailey Road of Patna, right opposite the High Court. As the school kept growing the need for expansion became a reality. Primary Section was shifted to its own building in year 1970, in the same campus and became a separate entity. By 1983 the present High School building had also come into existence. In 2016 Carmel Patna is blessed with new building for the primary section . As a whole Carmel Patna has now to its credit three huge double-storeyed buildings with two huge Auditoriums with a seating capacity of almost one thousand. In 1972, the High School was given official Recognition by the Bihar Government. The school is a Government Recognized Minority school since 1972 and has obtained Minority Rights Declaration. Since 1998 the school has also been given Recognition by the I.C.S.E. Board and is permanently affiliated to Council For The Indian School Certificate Examination Board since May 22nd 2003 . In July, 2003 the classes at the plus two level were started in the Science and Commerce Streams. In June 2008 Art section at the Plus Two Level was also started.

Students are admitted at the L.KG. level only. As Carmel High School has its teaching academic from L.KG.-I to Plus Two level, admissions are also taken in each of the three streams- Science, Commerce, Arts at plus two level. The strength of the school is around 2520.
