The school building is one of the oldest KVs of defence sector since the time when KVS was founded in the name as Central School Organisation in 1964.

This is one of the first twenty schools taken over by central school organisation, now named KVS. It is still running in the same old building of department of defence. It is nearly two Km straight away from railway station, Ambala Cantt and Bus Stand Ambala Cantt. The Ambala City is 05 KM away on NH-1 towards chandigarh.

The science stream has been started from April,2008with subjects Physics, chemistry, Biology, Maths and Computer Science. The school has the limitation for its expansion. It will have soon its own building.Land has been alloted. It has two/three sections in different classes, highest being XII (Science & Commerce ). It has expanded in respect of the enrolment in the session 2008-09.

The school is administered by Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, Autonomous Body under ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India, New Delhi.
