Mahoba, is a district headquarters of UP State, is an old township of great historical significance. It produces god quality Betal leaves. Located only 60 kms from world Khajuraho; the area is replete with archaeological remains. Rich and cultural heritage of courageous Chandel as permeated the courageous hearts of the local populace who played an important role in the struggle for independence. Celebrations are held every year to remember such freedom fighters by the grateful inhabitants; thus inculcating the national fervor in the younger generation.It is a sad commentary theat this region suffered from lack of good educational facilities and to overcome this the Gyansthali Public School with its motto ?TAMSO MA JYOTIRGAMAYA? meaning ? LEAD ME FORM DARKNESS TO LIGHT? came into being as the brain child of Mr. Devendra Kumar Paliwal and a few of his dedicated associates. These philanthropists with their magnificence took a determinated & radical step to create this institution to cater to the needs of this region.
