Kendriya Vidyalaya is a system of Central Government schools under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. The system came into being in 1962 under the name "Central Schools" and has been affiliated with CBSE since then. Later, the name was changed to Kendriya Vidyalaya.
Kendriya Vidyalaya, CMERI Colony, Durgapur was established in the year 1970. Over the year the school progressed and presently functions in a three storied permanent building. The school imparts education from Class-I to Class-XII with Science and Humanities at +2 level with one section in each class. Central Mechanical Engineering Research Institute, Durgapur under CSIR is the sponsoring agency of this reputed Kendriya Vidyalaya.
