DAV PUBLIC SCHOOL, BARRACKPORE was founded in April, 2011 as a project School in a rented building. It is flourished under the pristine shade of Arya Samaj in this historic city of Barrackpore. The school came under the direct control of DAV COLLEGE MANAGING COMMITTEE from June 2014. Starting with hardly 600 students, the school has now almost 800 students, 40 teachers and 10 non-teaching staff.
At present the school has acquired its own land and the school building is under construction. The school has come out as an excellent blend of ancient values and modern systems of education. The best of the Indian tradition as well as the best in modern sciences and technology are amalgamated to provide essential nourishment to the students for their all round development. The first DAV school was started after the demise of Swami Dayanand to serve as his memorial. A group of enlightened, dedicated and devoted followers, with a deep sense of social commitment founded the Dayananand Anglo-Vedic College Trust and Managing Society which was registered in 1886. The society established its first school at Lahore the same year, with Lala Hansraj (later known as Mahatma Hansraj) as the honorary Headmaster. Thus started the movement which has been running from Kashmir to Kanyakumari since then. This school is proud to be a part of this movement which undertakes a vast chain of 800 institutions run by DAV CMC, the largest non-governmental educational organization in the country.
The school has established a reputation for its academic excellence and character building measures. It has its own aim and aspirations. It believes in forward thinking, to prepare young minds for a rapidly changing world, while internalizing the core values like honesty, integrity, loyalty and compassion. This holistic initiative is to build leadership and prepare our genext in nation-building mission. We, the Davians believe that teachers are the facilitators who make themselves ‘progressively unnecessary in the class’ and the learners are the trail blazers whose ingenuity in the learning process makes ‘dream comes true’ for Incredible India.
