The School was first methodically named after the church as Mizoram Presbyterian church Synod High School. The Presbyterian Synod in its annual session during 2nd-11th December, 1966 decided to change the name of School from Mizoram Presbyterian Synod High School to Mizo Synod High School. The same case was put forward in the session of Synod during 1st – 9th December 1984 and the name of the school was further changed from Mizo Synod High School to simply Synod High School. Introduction of Plus Two system in our School in 1996 brought forth a new name and since then it has become Synod higher secondary school.
