Kendriya Vidyalaya, Aruvankadu was started in the year 1975. The Vidyalaya has classes from I to XII with an enrolment of 747. Class XI Science Stream was begun for the session 2004-05. The school is situated in the campus of Cordite Factory, Aruvankau (Defence), District: The Nilgiris, Tamil Nadu - 643202.

The Vidyalaya has maintained high academic standards with 100% results in the 2011 CBSE Class X Examination which placed it at the top among the Kendriya Vidyalayas of Chennai Region.

The Vidyalaya provides opportunities to its students to participate in a variety of activities spread throughout the year. The Vidyalaya participates in Games, Sports and other activities organized locally and also at Inter Kendriya Vidyalaya level by the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan. The activities include Mathematics Olympiad, Green Olympiad, National Level Essay and Painting Competitions, Adventure Activities, Educational Tours, Exhibitions, Scouting etc.

The Vidyalaya has a well stocked library of 10000 books to inculcate regular reading habits. We subscribe to over 40 magazines and periodicals.

Computer Education is provided by well qualified specialists from Class III to Class XII. The Vidyalaya has two well equipped Computer Laboratories with 60 computers.
