Maria Montessori House of Children started humbly on the 18th of August, 1988. The Director, Mrs. Neille Ahmed Tanweer, set up this school.

Maria Montessori House of Children is not just a school for toddlers imparting what they call a "Montessori"education in a general way. It is totally run on the lines of Dr. Maria Montessori's line of exposing kids to alphabets, numbers and writing through the playway method. It is a true Montessori facility, with an unique method of child management involving handling and exposing children, readying them for the conventional 10 + 2 system that they have to be prepared for later.

At two plus, children are too young for school yet old enough to LEARN. For a situation like this a special ENVIRONMENT is created. This environment is to some extent is an extension of the CHILDREN'S ROOM OR NURSERY at home. The main objective of Maria Montessori House of Children is to provide a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment, much like the home, where children's growth and happiness are encouraged and championed. Our carefully formulated materials, activities and environment provide children the opportunity to develop important attitudes, appreciation of skills, ideas and habits that are essential for a lifetime of creative thinking and learning.

Today, Maria Montessori House of Children is one of the only schools in the northeast imparting Montessori education in the real sense, by the 'playway' method. The school is registered under the Association of Montessori International [AMI]. There are "teachers" who are trained in the 'Montessori' method of training children, caring for them as their own, giving them a comfort-feeling of being at home, even though they are in a learning environment
