Kendriya Vidyalaya No.2, Kalpakkam, Located on the idyllic and serene backdrop of The Bay of Bengal, under the canopy of tall greenery stands Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 2 established in May 1980. The Vidyalaya is run by KVS an autonomous body under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt of India. School is affiliated to the CBSE Board for Xth and XII.
Being located in the Department of Atomic Energy Township, Kalpakkam, it enjoys the Patronage of D.A.E. It serves mainly the scholastic needs of the children of the employees and children belonging to other categories, say II to VIII from the nearby village areas and neighbourhood places like Mahabalipuram and Thirukazhukundram.
As per the enrolment in the current acedemic year ( 2007-08 ) 72.5% of students hail from category I , 6.5% from categories II to VII and 22% from category VIII. Therefore this institution in a major way caters to the needs of project employees, besides taking care of other employees (28.5%). Thus we very well claim that democracy in education to the extend possible is being achieved.
