When the Apostolic Carmelites started the Patna Women's college in 1940 there was tremendous pressure from all sides to make women's education really comprehensive by starting at the lowest level and opening a school. Giving in to these pressures the Apostolic Carmel Sisters brought into existence the first of many Carmel Schools in Bihar. And thus Carmel School Patna came into existence in the year 1944, with 16 pupils on roll with Sr. Constance, as the first Principal. The school will forever remain indebted to the pioneering efforts of Mother Theodosia and Mother Josephine.
