As a project undertaken by St. Joseph’s service society the nursery school of Infant Jesus was started on 1st October, 1996. In the beginning we had a small building for the nursery school. Its aim was to provide education for all sections of society and to uplift them. Gradually we started to construct homes for specially abled children who are taken care by different congregation of sisters like CMC, FCC, SABS, SH. Along with this we constructed a hospital named Bethzatha. Our aim is to provide health care facilities for all.
Our first teacher was Sr. Cecy who was very dedicated to the cause. Started with three children in the nursery, towards the middle of academic year 1996-97, the school had strength of nearly 200 children spread over from nursery to std.II. We have moved ahead from where we started. The school has recognition up to Senior Secondary Level (+2 Stage) from the Directorate of Education, Delhi. It is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (C.B.S.E.), New Delhi.
At the +2 level the school has all the three streams - Science, Commerce and Humanities. Presently we are equipped with lab facilities (physics, biology, chemistry, computer, language), smart classes etc. Sanjoepuram was conceived as a village for the welfare of children and of children with special needs. In this regard education has the first priority in order to absorb all children into the education system we have adopted “INCLUSIVE EDUCATION”. The children with special needs are required provisions. We have chosen English as a medium of education and it was at the insistence of some parents of the village who told us: “We do not know how to read and write. We do not want our children to remain stranded in the villages. They should know what is happening in the world. They should be able to go to the world around. For that we should have a standard educational institutional.” Inspired from these needs we built up an English medium school- INFANT JESUS SENIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL, SANJOEPURAM.
