The Catholic Diocese of Sambalpur is dedicated to the pastoral Religious,educational,Social development and health services to 8 civil districts of odisha.It has been rendering educational services to the rural areas through vernacular schools. The growing residential population of sambalpur had been demanding for a stable and quality school since long.The felt demand of people and the well reflected move of the Presbyterian Community (Diocesan Priests) of the diocese merged together to give birth to St. John's School at sambalpur in 2001.
St. John's School came in to existence on 2nd April 2003,with its inauguration by Sri Pretnanidhi sethi,OAS,Sub-Collector of Sambalpur. Rev.Fr.Emil Soreng,SVD,Vicar general of the diocese blessed the new School which Started humbly in the hall of St. Joseph's Church,Sakhipara,Sambalpur.
Now St.John's School has its own land and well -equiped Structure at Vianney Nagar in Sria area.The School was Shifted to the new premises on 3rd April 2006 Rt. Rev.Lucas Kerketta,SVD blessed the new school in Vianney Nagar.St.John's School is preparing the chi9ldren for ICSE examination,conducted by the council for the Indian School Certificate Examination,New Delhi,which is Internationally recognized for its excellence.
