St. Xavier’s School, Mancotta, Dibrugarh is a minority institution according to the constitution of India (Art.30) established and administered by the Diocese of Dibrugarh. It contributes its share to Catholic Church’s effort to share in the country’s educational undertaking like all other catholic schools. St. Xavier’s School is therefore at the service of the nation at large and this part of Assam in particular.
Based on the life and teachings of Jesus Christ St. Xavier’s School endeavors’ to impart sound education by instilling in the students the habits of discipline, virtue and study. The school expects its staff and the students to be shining examples of love and service which will mould them into good and responsible citizens of the country.
The patron of this school is St. Francis Xavier who was born on 7th April 1506 in Spain. St. Francis Xavier excelled in outstanding holiness and virtues. He was a great patron of learning. He came to India, our motherland and worked for our people. St. Francis Xavier died on 3rd December 1552. His incorrupt body has been kept in Goa. Francis Xavier was canonized on 12th March 1662.
