Way back in 1985, 3 enlightened souls, Mr. R.K.Sen, Mrs. Ilina Sen and Miss Shova Bose envisioned the need to set up an educational institution for the no less deserving children of the suburb, who might not make it to the metropolis to get quality education. The Result: SPRINGDALE JOURNEY STARTED – 1985, with just 20 fledglings. Backed up by Mr. Sen and Miss Shova Bose, Mrs. Ilina Sen pioneered a unique “PLAY WAY METHOD of learning, hitherto unknown to the children. The overwhelming success prompted the guardians to goad on Mrs. Sen to reach high and take it to the Secondary level. There was no dearth of moral and financial support from the guardians and well-wishers. Even the teachers( a handful of them at that time) and non-teaching staff made it their only mission in life to see Springdale to the Zenith. They did not mind running from one building to the other to take classes, in which they were scattered, in the absence of a proper building or campus. Sacrifices, determination and perseverance bore fruit and in 1998 Springdale High School was granted affiliation by the WBBSE. When in 2000 the first batch of students appeared for the Madhyamik Examination there were much misapprehensions. But Springdale High School allayed all fears and cynicism and the result was extremely laudable. Success, once tested, became an unquenchable thirst – and there was no looking back. Consecutive years galored in further success. The guardians were more than convinced about SHS’s capability and they wanted to see their wards take Higher Secondary exam from Springdale. Naturally again another initiative was undertaken to get the school uplifted and in 2003 Springdale High School was raised to the status of a Higher Secondary School with the first batch appearing for the Higher Secondary Examination in 2005.
