St Joseph's Convent School, founded in Rourkela on 12-1-1966 is conducted by the Religious of the Congregation of the Daughter of the Cross. The Congregation founded by Mother Marie Therese Haze in 1833 in Liege, Belgium has been active in the sphere of education throughout the world ever since its foundations. As its central motivating force it has the experience of God's love revealed to all people in the suffering and death of Jesus Christ on the Cross. With Christ we desire to bring about the liberation of every person, especially the weakest and the most suffering members of society.
In the spirit of Mother Marie Therese we are committed to the education of girls. Attentive to the times we minister to the just educational needs of our ever changing society. In and through our service to them we work for the dignity of womanhood, striving to serve women by entering into their sufferings and working to free them from any evil that may keep them from being fully human and fully alive as woman today.
Animated by the divine spirit of love and freedom we build a responsible school community involving teachers, administrative and auxiliary staff.
